What are we making?

Variance takes a Unity game apart, or carries it into VR. Turn an APK into an editable Unity project, or turn a PC game folder into a standalone VR build.

Rip APK

Rebuild a Unity project from an APK, XAPK, APKS or APKM.

What it does
  • Exports assets, scenes and scripts into a real Unity project
  • Saves each IL2CPP method's native instructions for reference
  • Compiles the project in Unity, reads the errors and repairs them
  • Writes a report listing everything it changed
What you get back

Mono games come back as real decompiled C#.

IL2CPP games keep their exact classes, fields and method signatures, so scenes and prefabs stay linked. Method bodies come back empty, because that logic only exists as native code. These projects are a starting point: gameplay needs rewriting.

Port to VR

Select a game's folder, press Use Folder, then Start Porting.

Keeps the real game code

Original game DLLs stay in place and are compiled for Android.

Adds VR on top

OpenXR with Meta Quest support, head tracking, world-space UI, stick movement and snap turning.

Fixes build errors itself

When a build fails, Variance reads the errors, fixes what it can and builds again.

Closest editor fallback

Missing the game's Unity version? It uses the closest one you have and warns you first.

One zip at the end

The APK and a full report, ready to sideload.

Know the limits

Mono games only, and Unity 2020.3 or newer to build with. Keyboard and gamepad controls aren't mapped to VR controllers, custom shaders are simplified, and results vary by game.

Make it yours

The same 17 themes as the app. Try one, this page changes with it.
